September 15: Founder’s Day Festival
Step back in time and celebrate 170 years of Mare Island's rich history at the Mare Island Historic Park Foundation's Founders Day extravaganza!
Founders Day celebrates September 16, 1854, the day Captain David Farragut arrived to take command of what was then a barren island in order to build a shipyard.
On September 15th, from 1 pm to 4 pm, families are invited to immerse themselves in a day of fun, discovery, and nostalgia.
